EDUCATION
At Suburban EMS, we believe education saves lives.
EDUCATION SAVES LIVES
In 2020, we launched the Suburban EMS Training Institute to expand our educational reach. Our certified instructors now teach a variety of courses, including:
• EMR (Emergency Medical Responder) & EMT (Emergency Medical Technician) certification programs
• AEMT (Advanced Emergency Medical Technician) certification program
• EVOC/EVDT (Emergency Vehicle Operator training)
• American Heart Association CPR classes
• STOP the Bleed
Our AEMT Program is a recent addition to our training offerings, designed to elevate EMTs to the next level of emergency care. This program provides advanced medical knowledge, hands-on skill development, and field-based clinical experience. Students train on Suburban EMS ambulances and in partner clinical settings, gaining real-world exposure to IV therapy, advanced airway management, medication administration, and critical decision-making. This course prepares graduates to deliver a higher level of prehospital care and strengthen the EMS workforce across our region.
We are also proud to share that Suburban EMS has received a federal grant from the U.S. Department of Labor to strengthen our training programs. This support allows us to continue investing in the future of emergency medical services and the people who make it possible. The grant was federally supported by the U.S. Department of Labor, with an award totaling $247,949 and $0 (0%) in state, local, and/or non-governmental funds.
While many of these programs are designed for our staff, our EMR, EMT, and AEMT classes are open to the public. Students not only learn in the classroom but also gain real-world experience through weekly clinicals on Suburban EMS ambulances, working side by side with our crews to put their skills into practice.
